Bitcoin: Bubbles Can Go On For A Long Time

If I just took out the facts of this industry whatever you want to call it, sector, you know ten years ago there were none. Now there are over 2,000 and if I gave you that fact and then I showed you the charts of 100 of them or a thousand of them and they all go straight up you would say whatever what is that that's a bubble, whether it's cotton or Brazilian stocks or whatever it happens to be you would say that's a bubble. So it looks like a bubble but bubbles can go on a long time a lot you and they often do but just because it looks like a bubble doesn't mean it's the end of the story.

The World Has A Money Problem: Gold, Silver and Bitcoin

The world has a money problem, we all are losing confidence in government's, we're losing confidence in paper money. Throughout history when that has happened people have looked for something else frequently it has been gold and silver. You cannot change thousands of years of people's habits or incarnations or thoughts pretty easily so gold and silver have not lost their place in the world's system.

Bitcoin: It Looks Like A Bubble

It looks like a bubble but bubbles can go on for a long time and they often do but just because it looks like a bubble doesn't mean it's the end of the story.

This Economic System Cannot Last

The economic system which has evolved in the world especially in the US but not just the US cannot be sustained because it is built on staggering amounts of debt. The United States is now the largest debtor nation not just in the world but in the history of the world. No country has ever gotten so deep in debt and the debt goes higher and higher every day.

Nobody's doing anything about it except some worrying like me or worry knowing it cannot go on and not only is it based on lots of debt but to sustain the debt or to maintain it they now print a lot of money. The central bank in America gets out its printing presses, prints a lot of money and uses that to finance the debt going forward so this cannot last forever. I'm afraid it's not gonna last too much longer because we're getting to the end of the road.

The Reason Why I Prefer Japanese and Chinese Shares

It looks like there's a blowout in place you know and it often happens in markets every 10, 20, 30 years we have them we may be having one now. But I would buy Japan if this happened (tax cut), Japanese markets are down 50 percent from their all-time, high Chinese stocks are down 40 percent and I'd rather buy low instead of buying high.

Bitcoin: The Chart Looks Like A Bubble

If you just showed me charts and showed me what's happened in that market over the past year or two and didn't tell me what it was I would say, "this looks like every bubble I've ever read about".

I don't own any Bitcoin, I've never bought or sold so I'm not a good one to ask but it sure looks like the picture of every bubble I've seen.

Stock Market: There's a Blowout in Place

It looks like there's a blowout in place you know and it often happens in markets every 10, 20, 30 years we have them we may be having one now. Investing: Agriculture Will Do Well In The Next Bear Market

I'm very optimistic about Agriculture's been a disaster for 35 years and it's changing in my view. It's changing so if you're worried about the world and that we are going to have a serious bear market you should think about agriculture because agriculture will probably do well, that is a place that will probably decouple in the next bear market.

Commodities: Coal, Steel and Agriculture

I'm a director of a coal company so we obviously should worry about Chinese coal. I do own commodities yes, but Steel is not high on my list because it's there's no real active futures market but some commodities I'm very optimistic about. Agriculture's been a disaster for 35 years it's changing in my view.

A Hot Sector In China

If you're cleaning up pollution in China you don't care if the West disappears as you're too busy going to work every day and you're making too much money but the companies that have debt and deal with the West are gonna have problems the next time around.

Buying Opportunities In Japan, China and Taiwan

I bought stocks this week in China, Japan, Taiwan so I see opportunities on the long side in markets. That doesn't mean I'm right. A bear market may start today but I see opportunities. But if you're worried about that you need to know how to sell short. Great fortunes can be made in a bear market selling short.

The Worst Bear Market In A Lifetime

What I have said was that we will have a bear market again some day.  Now, Janet Yellen says we wwill not, she says everything is okay now and there won't be any more economic problems. I happen to disagree with her and I know we will have bear markets again.

What I said was the next one we have when it comes is going to be the worst in my lifetime, the reason for that being in 2008 we had a problem of too much debt,  the next time around the debt is so so so much higher, so the next time we have a bear market is gonna be the worst in my lifetime.

The Use Of Stop Losses

Some of the smartest people I know use stop losses, whatever number they use. I have never used stop losses but I frequently wish I had. In fact the more I read the more I think "maybe I should start using stop losses", I don't have anything to lose much by doing a stop loss and it might help me a lot.

Bitcoin: The World Has A Money Problem

We know the world has a money problem of various sorts. We know that everything has been changed by the computer  and will continue to be. So, yes the computer and the Internet are going to change money as we know it. If you go to China right now, people don't have money. It's astonishing the minute they buy a cup of coffee they put their phone on the thing and there's a cup of coffee paid for.

The Worst Financial Crisis In Our Lifetimes

We're going to have the worst financial crisis in our lifetimes because of the debt. There is no question that the debts are now staggering. We've never seen the likes in the world and in Japan they have zero interest rates, negative real interest  rates so if interest rates ever go up to 2%, it totally destroys Japan.

Q: Are you buying or selling gold at the moment?

Neither at the moment. I own a lot of gold and silver. I haven't bought any serious gold in a few years.

I'm waiting for gold to go down more at which point I hope I'm smart enough to buy a lot more gold because before this is over gold is gonna go up a lot, it's gonna get very overpriced, it might even turn into a bubble. I hope it doesn't turn into a bubble because then I'll have to sell and I don't want to ever sell my gold, my children will have my gold someday. But no, I am a potential buyer, I have never sold any, I don't expect to sell any gold unless and until it becomes a bubble someday.

Investing: My Thoughts On Japan

Japan has staggering debt as we all know, they have a declining population and the debt is going through the roof. Mr. Abe says he's going to do whatever it takes, he'll print as much money as it takes and he'll spend as much money as it takes. That cannot last. It never occurred to me that the next financial crisis might start in Japan but Japan is certainly certainly going to be a big  problem!

By the way I own Japanese shares and I'm buying more Japanese shares today just so you know but if I were a ten year old Japanese I would get myself an AK-47 or I would leave because in his lifetime or her lifetime that place is going to be a disaster.

Currencies: I Expect The UD Dollar To Move Higher

I have a lot of US dollars because when the turmoil gets worse many people look for a safe haven. Investors think the US dollar is a safe haven. It's not, America is the largest debtor nation in the history of the world and the debts are going higher but everybody thinks it's a safe haven so the US dollar will go higher and it might even turn into a bubble. I hope at that point I'm smart enough to sell it and put my money somewhere else. It might be gold, who knows where it will be but at the moment I own a lot of US dollars.

Chinese Shares: My Plan

I haven't sold any Chinese shares and I have been investing there for decades. My plan is that my children someday are going to look back and say, "He must have been very smart, oh! God look at all these Chinese shares, we've got rich!" That's my plan but if things develop in certain ways I'll have to sell, I mean if for instance a bubble develops I have to sell. So, I may sell some of my Chinese shares between here and there. (iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index ETF (FXI), iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM))

The Markets May Drop 40-50% In The Next Downturn

In America, I'm going to use America as an example since it's less sensitive, it's been over eight years since we had a big correction in the American stock market. It's well overdue.

Historically we've had them every 4 to 8 years. When we have big market corrections in America they usually go around 40 or 50 percent. This one will go down 40 or 50 percent and it would be the worst in our lifetime because the debt is now so much higher than it was even in 2008. Markets: Should You Buy India Right Now?

The market is very high as you know. It's not as though these things are a surprise, that's one reason I'm worried about markets in many parts of the world.

The American stock markets are trading at an all-time high. Most of the markets in Europe are trading at all-time highs. I don't like buying when things are making all-time highs.

Stocks: I'm Not Buying Anything Right Now

I'm not buying anything right now me here I'm worried about what's happening in the world the world is overdue for a correction and maybe a big correction so at the moment I'm sitting and watching and waiting to see what happen.

I hope that they will privatize Air India. I'm not sure why that's such a big thing for Indians. It would be better for India, it would be better for Air India if they have to be efficient and competitive instead of being a protected industry and not offering a very good service to Indians and foreigners.

India: GST Will Make India More Efficient

Investing: Unified Korea

Japan's against it because Japan knows they cannot compete with a unified Korea, America is against it because they they don't want to have to take their troops out of there. But for the world it's going to be very very exciting when it happens. (iShares MSCI South Korea Index Fund ETF (EWY))

Unified Korea Will Be An Exciting Country

I'm looking for ways to invest in the eventual unification of Korea. One of two things is going to happen.

There's going to be a war and that's the end of North Korea, the whole Korean country will be unified and will be a great investment or it's not going to be a war and there's going to be a peaceful unification eventually.

Either way a unified Korea is going to be the most exciting country in the world for a decade or two.

It's right on the Chinese border, 80 million people with cheap, disciplined, educated labor in the north plus lots of natural resources, fabulous infrastructure, capital, management ability in the south. It's going to be a very exciting country!

Jim Rogers: Facebook (FB), Apple (AAPLE), Netflix (NFLX), Google (GOOG) Will Eventually Crack

In a recent interview, Jim Rogers drew a parallel between the FANG stocks (Facebook (FB), Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX) and Google (GGOG)) and the Nifty 50, a group of stocks that kept rallying in the seventies when the general bull market in stocks was about to end. The Nifty 50 included stocks like Coca-Cola (KO), General Electric (GE) and International Bussiness Machines (IBM).

Jim Rogers noted that these high momentum, big cap Nasdaq stocks are currently holding the indexes but that they will eventually crack:

“Everything else stopped going up but those Nifty 50, which would be something like the FANGs today, or maybe in the late ‘90s [during the dot com bubble], some of the other kinds of stocks. So this has happened before in market history. They eventually crack, there’s no question.”

Jim Rogers: My Thoughs On Bitcoin

I'm not sure you should ask me because I have never bought one Bitcoin. If I were smart, I would have bought them nine years ago, seven years ago, five years ago or even five months ago. So I don't know. If I just showed you charts of what's going on and described without telling you which country or which time periods, you would say "Oh, that looks like a bubble, sounds like a bubble." It does! When To Buy Gold Again

Jim Rogers said in a recent interview that he is taking a contrarian view on Gold. Gold has not had enough corrections yet and for that reason there are still many gold perma bulls. Jims argument is that when everybody is throwing gold away at fire sale prices, then it might be a good time to consider buying it again:

"For me, gold has not had enough corrections yet. There are still too many gold bugs."

"When people say, 'I never want to invest in gold again,' that is when I want to invest in it...When everybody is throwing it out the window, that is usually a good time to buy anything, including gold. So far, there are too many people that love gold."

Jim Rogers also does not expect the rating agencies (S&P and Moody’s) to raise Russia’s ratings due to political pressures:

“I wouldn’t think it could be soon. They have a lot of geopolitical pressure than they admit and most people realize.”

It's all absurd. If 20 years ago we had said interest rates are going to go to zero and they're going to go to negative people would have said that's incomprehensible, that cannot happen and I explained it has been done by the central banks they would really say it's incomprehensible.

Market Turmoil Will be Bullish For The US Dollar

I expect market turmoil in the next couple of years but one result of market turmoil is that the  US Dollar is going to go higher because people are going to look for a safe haven now they think the US Dollar is a safe haven for historic reasons.

Benjamin Franklin: Liberty and Security

I don't know if you remember but Benjamin Franklin said during the American Revolution that people who give up liberty for more security usually wind up with less liberty and less security. It happens with us as well.

Investing: Some of the Things I'm Doing

Some of the things I'm doing:

  • I'm investing in agriculture
  • I've got some precious metals I'm not buying them now because I expect more problems in precious metals first
  • I own a lot of US dollars because people when their problems they look for a safe haven and the US dollars still considered a safe haven by many people.

When Things Go Wrong People Reverse To Gold And Silver

Through out history people reversed to gold and silver when things go wrong and they will again. (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD), iShares Silver Trust ETF (SLV))

People Should Have Some Money Outside Their Own Country

Everybody should have some money out of their own country as an insurance policy if nothing else, and also own some precious metals as an insurance policy too. (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD), iShares Silver Trust ETF (SLV))

Exchange Controls In The US

We may even have exchange controls in the United States the next time the US Dollar starts going down dramatically. I am sure they will impose exchange controls in the US.

Higher Interest Rates Will Cause A Market Collapse

The central banks have already told us that interest rates are going to go higher. America has already raised interest rates a few times. So far there has been no collpase in the markets but that is because interest rates are not high enough to hurt people, yet. Interest rates are going from zero or from negative in some cases to up a little bit but not enough to hurt yet but when they get higher it is going to hurt. Then everybody is going to suffer.

Trump Will Not Start A War With North Korea

I cannot imagine Mr. Trump is going to start a war with North Korea but who knows. He bombed Syria for no reason, he bombed Afghanistan for no reason so who knows what he might do if he gets angry one morning and if he does it, it's going to be very very bad for all of us. GST Is Good For India

I want to emphasize that in the short term GST is going to cost a lot of money and a lot of time for a lot of people because it's such a huge change but in the long term it's one of the best things that's happened in India in a long, long time. I'm delighted, I'm surprised but it's good for India and therefore good for the world. (iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM), WisdomTree India Earnings Fund ETF (EPI))

Air India Should Be Privatized

Well, not much has been done except GST which is a huge thing. I hope that they will privatize Air India I'm not sure why that's a big thing for Indians. It will be better for India, it would be better for Air India if they have to be efficient and competitive instead of being a protected industry and not offering very good service to Indians and foreigners.

Emerging Markets: GST Is Going To Change India Completely

GST is a miracle! l I am very surprised it went through and it's going to change India completely. It will make it in the long run, it will make it cheaper and more efficient for most businesses. I'm very very surprised! (iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM), WisdomTree India Earnings Fund ETF (EPI), Sensex)

Gold Will Skyrocket

Gold (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD)) is going to go up big time before this is over. We’re going to have turmoil in the financial markets in the next few years and gold (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD)) will skyrocket. I am not buying gold now because I expect it go down first.

The Sanctions Against Russia Have Helped Russia

In many ways the sanctions against Russia have helped Russia. It has created an agricultural boom, as agriculture is a very strong growth industry right now. It also pushed the Russians together with the Asians and when you go through Moscow or St. Petersburg airport now the Asians are everywhere, (iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM), Market Vector Russia ETF Trust (RSX))

The US Dollar Will Get Overpriced

People will be scared and the US Dollar will get overpriced and may even turn into a bubble before it's over but then when everybody starts saying, "wait a minute this is crazy", when they start looking at the real fundamental situation then they are going to dump their US dollars and we're going to have a gigantic gigantic crisis.

Why Russian Bonds Are So Attractive

The yields on the Russian government bonds are very high. An investor can get 10 percent in Ruble bonds and in my view the Russian Ruble has stabilized, so it’s a lot better than getting 2 percent in American government bonds.

Russian Agriculture Is Very Prosperous

Russian agriculture is prosperous because nobody can sell to them (due to the sanctions) and they can’t buy any agriculture products from us, so their agriculture is booming. (Market Vector Russia ETF Trust (RSX))

The Federal Reserve Will Not Save The Market

What's going to happen is they're going to raise interest rates some more then when things start going really bad people will call them and say, "You must save us, the Western civilization is going to collapse" and the Federal Reserve who's made up of bureaucrats and politicians will do something, so they will try but it won't work, it would cause some rallies but it won't work this time.

US Economy: No Signs Of A Recession Yet

I don't see one at the moment but the problem is they always come when you're not expecting them. I would suspect during this year or next it's going to start somewhere that we're not watching. Whether it's Illinois, a pension plan or Madagascar who knows. It's going to start somewhere and then we'll know. But if you look out the window now, everything's great and that's a dangerous sign. The Worst Market Crash In My Lifetime

In 2008 we had a problem because of debt, the debt in 2008 was nothing compared to what's happening now. In 2008 the Chinese had a lot of money saved for a rainy day. It started raining and they started spending the money.

Now even the Chinese have debt and the debt is so much higher. The Federal Reserve's balance sheet is up over five times since 2008. It will be the worst thing in my lifetime. The Most Dangerous Words In The Investment World

You see throughout history all bubbles look the same, all market tops look the same, all credit tops look the same. You have to get the timing right of course, but when you see everybody buying X you have to start saying well, wait a minute, I've seen this before when you see everybody saying it's different this time but it's never different this time.

The most dangerous words in the investment world are it is different this time. It ain't ever different this time, you know. I'm not the first person to figure that out when you see on the radio or the TV or the internet that everybody is doing something I hope that a little bell goes off in your head and says well, maybe it is better to start thinking about going the other way.

India: Large Debts Means Not Being Able To Grow Rapidly

How To Look For Potential Investments

You look out the window, you look at the market, you read the newspapers, you listen to the investor's podcast, whatever. Wherever you see that people are down on something and it's depressed and there may be an investment opportunity there.

Agricultural America is pretty depressed right now as you probably know and maybe it is an area where there's a opportunity but just because something's depressed that doesn't mean you should be investing there because it can stay depressed for a long, long time. You have to find a change that's taking place and change doesn't happen every day. But if you can find something cheap and if you can find a positive change, maybe you should do more homework and find a potential investment.

Gold Is Not A Currency, Just A Commodity Like Any Other

There is no simple answer in the investment world. It's a combination of everything and that's the case with gold and everything else. Gold has been around for thousands of years, gold has had many periods when it's been in a bull market and many periods when it's been in a bear market. It's just another investment. I know that many people think it is a currency but gold is just another investment like everything else, just another commodity like everything else. Go back in history and you will see that gold is just another investment like everything else whether we like it or not. (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX))

When I'll Want To Invest In Gold

When they say I never want to invest in gold (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD)) again as long as I live that's when I want to invest in gold that's true of many things you know when everybody gives up and throws it out the window that's usually a good time to buy anything including gold and so far as there were too many people who loved gold.

Agritrade Resources is intriguing to me since it is in coal business which most people don’t like and it is in Indonesia, which some people don’t like also. (Jim Rogers has taken an advisory role to the board of Agritrade)

Gold Has Not Had Enough Of A Correction Yet

If gold collapses to $950 an ounce I would rush in and buy a lot of gold. Price is the main determinant. Time also, if this was 2019, I would rush in and buy some gold. Gold has not had enough of a correction yet and there are still too many gold bulls. (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD))

Stock Market: The Impact of Higher Interest Rates

Higher interest rates are definitely coming from the market  and from the Federal Reserve and what that does to the stock market, we will see.

Traditionally, when the Federal Reserve raises interest rates three times you should become very worried and on the fourth you should not be worried, you should run for the hills.

India is not one of my favorite stock markets (one of the reasons being) it is at an all-time high. The Future of Money: Bitcoin, Digital Currencies

Will it be Bitcoin? I don't know. But it's going to be electronic money and over the computer. One of the reasons is because politicians do want to get rid of cash. They don't like us all having cash because if it's cash they don't know what we're doing with it. Maybe your are going to see your girlfriend or maybe we're drinking whiskey or buying marijuana or something they want to know.

They want to control it so if all our money is electronic the politicians can completely control us and so therefore their favor of getting rid of cash. So it's going to happen. I'm not in favor of it by the way, you know, I want to go have a drink with you, give it to my girlfriend or something else but they don't like that.

Markets: US Dollar, Gold, Silver & Chinese Currency

The US Dollar is going to go higher as the turmoil increases worldwide. As the US Dollar goes higher, gold and silver will probably continue under pressure. At some point the US Dollar will get overvalued may turn into a bubble. I will have to sell my US Dollars and I will put my money into gold and silver or maybe the renminbi the Chinese currency which by then should be convertible. The Future Of Money Will Be Digital

We do have a gigantic money problem in the world, so I suspect that the solution as things get worse will be some sort of electronic or computer money. Now, will it be Bitcoin? I do not know. But it is going to be electronic money and another reason for that is that politicians want to get rid of cash.

He promised that he was going to get American companies to get all the money that they have deposited off-shore with tax incentives but so far any of that has happened and that is one of the things that made the stock market go up. Currencies: Bearish on The Japanese Yen

I am skeptical about the Japanese Yen. Some people consider the Yen as a safe haven when compared to the U.S. Dollar. It will be stronger then the Euro Currency (EUR) or less weak than the Euro, I should say, but I would not buy the Yen either. There is some money that goes to the Yen on the mistaken view that it is a safe haven too, but the Japanese have gigantic debts as well, their internal debts are higher than in the U.S. and it is not a place to put money.

Investing: Think About Farming and Agriculture

Agriculture has been a disaster worldwide for 30 years, that`s the reason I am optimistic now. Agriculture is down 31 percent in the last 19 years.

Agriculture has been a disaster, I urge you to think about farming and agriculture. (John Deere (DE), Kubota Corp (ADR)(OTCMKTS:KUBTY), Mosaic Co (NYSE:MOS), Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (USA) (NYSE:POT), Agrium Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AGU), PowerShares DB Agriculture Fund (DBA))

Parts of the U.S. Real Estate Market Are in a Bubble

Some parts of the U.S. real estate market are now in a bubble but some parts of the American property market are very attractive and there are great opportunities. (iShares Dow Jones US Real Estate ETF (IYR))

Nobody Has Ever Won a Trade War

If there is a trade war I assure you we should all be very, very worried. Trade wars through out history have never worked, nobody has ever won a trade war. (iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index ETF (FXI), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY))

Investing: Where I Will Put More Money

One of the places where I will probably put more money is the Renminbi and/ or China. The Renminbi will probably be convertible by then (when the U.S. Dollar gets overvalued and turns into a bubble) which will make it much more attractive to international investors.

One Strong Reason To Be Bearish On Bitcoin

Unfortunately I am afraid that the use of Bitcoin or any other digital currency will not be very successful because in the end governments are going to decide which electronic money you use.

Trump: Trade Wars or a Fantastic Time?

If we do not have trade problems and we do the good things (tax cuts, infrastructure spending and deregulation) that he wants to do, it could be fabulous! (SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA))

U.S. Dollar: It May Get Overpriced

My largest currency holding is the U.S. Dollar because I expect turmoil in world financial markets. When there is turmoil, investors will be looking for a safe haven. What will happen is that the U.S. Dollar will first get overpriced and if it keeps going, the U.S Dollar may even turn into a speculative bubble.

The World Has a Money Problem and Gold Will Benefit

I own gold but I have not bought any gold for a long time. But I own gold and I am waiting for opportunities to buy more. It it goes down I hope I am smart enough to buy a lot more. Before this is over, gold is going to go up a whole lot and gold may even turn into a bubble. The world has a huge problem with money. Bitcoin: The Solution For The World's Currency Problems?

The world has a huge problem with currencies and money and the world is looking for solutions. Computers are changing everything we know. I suspect the money problems, the currency problems will be resolved, changed or solved by the computers. Whether it will be Bitcoin or not, I do not know.

The Worst Economic Problems Of Our Lifetime Are Coming

We are going to have the worst economic problems we've had in your lifetime and my lifetime and when that happens a lot of companies are going to disappear. In 200 2008, Bear Stearns disappeared. Bear Stearns had been around for over 90 years. Lehman Brothers disappeared, Lehman had been around for over 150 years. A long, long time.

Interest Rates Are Going Much Higher

When interest rates start going up again permanently, when the bull market does come to an end in government bonds, interest rates are going to go very, very high.

In 1981, short-term in America were over 20 percent. Long-term bonds were yielding over 15 percent.

When interest rates go higher the junk bonds are going to get destroyed both by interest rates and by credit defaults. (SPDR Barclays Capital High Yield Bond ETF (JNK))

Is the Stock Market Right About Trump?

Well, yes and no. Mr. Trump has said he is going to do some wonderful things, like cutting taxes which is always great for any society, any country. He said he is going to rebuild the infrastructure which America desperately needs and it's good for America.

He said he is going to bring home the 3 trillion dollars which American companies have overseas. All of the things are wonderful things. If he can do it, it's going to be great!

But, Mr. Trump has also said he is going to have trade wars with China, Mexico, Japan, Korea and a few other countries that he has named. He said that on his first day in Office he would impose 45 percent tariffs against China. He has been there for a few weeks and he has not done it yet, but he still has it in his head, I am sure. Maybe he is just another politician like all the rest of them that says one thing but does not mean it at all. He has at least three people at high levels on his team that are very, very keen to have trade wars with China and if he does that, it's all over!

History is very clear. Trade wars always lead to problems, into disaster and even to real wars. If he is not going to have trade wars with various countries, then chances are that for a while happy days are here. Junk Bonds: They Will Get Destroyed When Interest Rates Go Higher

I am not shorting U.S. Government Bonds but I am still short U.S. junk bonds still. We are certainly in the process of making a top, but when the top comes, I do not know.

When interest rates go higher permanently, the junk bonds are going to get destroyed by interest rates and by credit defaults because many of them are junk! (SPDR Barclays Capital High Yield Bond ETF (JNK), iShares iBoxx $ High Yid Corp Bond (ETF)(HYG))

The U.S. Dollar Will Just Go Higher And Higher

I have been around long enough to know that everything is possible, no matter how weird it may sound. In fact, the weirdest it sounds probably the more likely it is going to happen. I doubt that there will be a Plaza accord this time around. It is more likely that the U.S. Dollar will just go higher and higher on its own. It will get too high, it will cause serious credit problems for a lot of people that has borrowed a lot of U.S. Dollars and it will make a lot of American companies less competitive.

The U.S. Dollar Is Having A Correction

The U.S. Dollar is having a correction now. All bull markets need corrections, corrections are good. I have not sold any U.S. Dollars. There is going to be turmoil somewhere along the line, we are already seeing it in some places. The Euro currency is going to have a lot of turmoil year. The U.S. Dollar is going to be a "safe haven". It is not a safe haven but is it perceived as a safe haven.

China: A Trade War Will Be Disastrous (iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index ETF (FXI))

I am just watching. I haven`t figured out what Donald Trump is going to do. He keeps saying that he is going to hit them very hard. Trade wars have always been disastrous for everybody. Nobody has ever won a trade war. Trade wars have always led to bankruptcies. So, Mr. Trump does not seem to care about all of that, he thinks he is smarter than history.

I'm Very, Very Bullish on the U.S. Dollar

I am very, very bullish on the U.S. Dollar for a variety of reasons. The U.S. Dollar is probably one of the best opportunities around right now because there will be a lot of turmoil, people will look for a safe haven. The world thinks the U.S. Dollar is a safe haven. It's not.

Stocks: The 3rd Rate Rise Starts To Cause Problems

Traditionally when the Federal Reserve raises rates three times you should be very, very worried. And on the fourth you should not only be worried but just run for the hills. So, if history is any guide, when the Federal Reserve raises interest rates some more there will be problems in the equity markets. How Higher Rates Will Impact the Stock Market

Higher interest rates are certainly coming from the market and from the Federal Reserve. What that does to the stock market (SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY)) we shall see. Traditionally when the Federal Reserve raises interest rates three times you should be very, very worried.

Commodities: A Big Opportunity

Commodities are bottoming, especially agriculture. Base metals are in the process of making a bottom. In a few years, we are going to look back and say, "What an opportunity that was!" Crude Oil: Expecting a 40-60 Dollars a Barrel Range

My view is that Oil is making a complicated bottom. I do not think we have seen the low for this year yet. I am not even sure what the low will be. A range of 30 to 60 dollars a barrel, or 40 to 60, something like that. (Nymex Crude Oil futures, United States Oil Fund LP ETF (USO))

Gold: In the Process of Finding a Bottom (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD))

Corrections and rallies are very common in all markets, does no matter what the market. What we are seeing is the process of gold (SPDR Gold Trust ETF (GLD)) trying to find its bottom and in my view it is not here yet.

India: I Don't Like The Populist Budget

I do not like the fact that the Indian budget deficit is going to continue. India will continue to get deeper and deeper into debt. That is populism, Mr. Modi wants to keep everybody happy! (WisdomTree India Earnings Fund ETF (EPI), iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM))

I Don’t Invest in Momentum Stocks

I don’t really understand high-priced stocks and so I just stay away from momentum stocks.   My investment style is just to find stocks or markets that are depressed and cheap, where there is both value and also some an element of change taking place. In the stock market I like to buy low and sell high.  (Netflix (NFLX), Facebook (FB), Tesla Motors (TSLA))

Markets: Recession, Interest Rates and Inflation

The problems are getting worse. Japan is already in recession (iShares MSCI Japan ETF(EWJ)). Parts of Europe, parts of America are in recession.

The world has many problems facing it. Interest rates are going back up and a rise in interest rates will hurt a lot of people, it will help some but it will hurt most people. You have inflation rising again. I am not very optimistic about the next 2 or 3 years. (SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), Nasdaq 100 Futures)

If Trump Starts A Trade War, Sell Everything!

President Trump very much wants a trade war with Mexico, China, Korea, Japan... And if that really happens, you sell everything, every asset in your portfolio. (SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM))

Commodities: Crude Oil

Crude oil is in the process of making a complicated bottom. We will look back some day and we will say, "In 2015, 2016 or 2017 energy made its bottom and then prices moved higher." (Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE), United States Oil Fund LP ETF (USO), Nymex Crude Oil futures)

I'm Very Worried About the Global Economy

I am very worried about the global economy in the next few months. First of all it has been 8 years since we had an economic recession in America. Historically we had them every four to seven years. There are many problems in the world economy. Donald Trump has promised a tare war with Mexico, China, Korea, Japan... If he does that, my God, we are going to have serious problems! Investing: Read From Various Sources

Be skeptical. Be skeptical of everything you hear and read. Try to get as many sources of information as you can. Get your information from various countries, various news sources. Then put it all into your brain and you can get it right.

Listening to one source of information, especially in 2017 is a dangerous thing to do!

The Traits of a Great Investor

You have to be skeptical, you have to be curious, you have to be willing to go against the accepted wisdom. You have to think independently and that is very hard to do. Be skeptical of everything you hear or read.

You do not do the opposite of what other investors are doing just to do the opposite. there must be a reason. Figure out what is really happening and you can be very successful in the markets.

I Love Investing In Markets That Are Hated (Market Vector Russia ETF Trust (RSX))

It could be a spectacular investment destination if the Russians have the right attitude. For what I can see, the attitude has changed in the Kremlin.

Plus, it is a hated market. I love markets that are hated. If something is changing and the market is hated... I love to invest in hated market. Russia has been a hated market, that is now beginning to change and it started going up a lot but it is still not a popular market. (Market Vector Russia ETF Trust (RSX))

Russia: A Fantastic Investment Destination

Something has happened in the Kremlin, the attitude has changed. they used to just shoot you or put you in jail or take your money if they did not like you. That has changed, I am not quite sure why.

They also have vast resources in Russia. It is not a big debtor nation like Spain or America, it has a balance of trade surplus in most years, so it could be a fantastic investment destination if they have the right attitude. (iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETF (EEM), Market Vector Russia ETF Trust (RSX))

Currencies: I Don't Expect the Euro Currency to Survive

I do not expect the Euro currency to survive as it is now. I doubt that the European Union will survive as it is now. It is unfortunate, the world needs something to compete with the U.S. Dollar.

Markets: Time To Be Long Commodities

I still own commodities, I will probably be buying more commodities. I am not buying gold, otherwise most commodities are making bottoms during this consolidation. And its probably a time to be long commodities and the U.S. Dollar. If Trump Imposes Chinese Tariffs, Sell Everything

If Donald Trump imposes a huge tariff on Chinese imports, you better sell everything you have in your portfolio, because it will cause serious problems. Investing In Russia

I was already bullish and invested in the Russian stock market before Donald Trump was elected. I had been investing there over the last few years. This is Going to End Disastrously

As you all know we had a problem in 2008 because of too much debt. Now the debt is much, much, much higher everywhere in the world. A lot of people have discussed austerity but nobody has lower debt this year than last year, much less than in 2008 and the debts are going higher every ay, every week, every month. So this is going to end disastrously.

Stock Market: Where To Focus Next

Right now the main factor is Mr. Trump and his talk about a lot of good news, which we all want to hear.
